संपादकीय नीति

The Coverage (thecoverage.net) लखनऊ, उत्तर प्रदेश से संचालित एक स्वतंत्र हिंदी-अंग्रेज़ी डिजिटल न्यूज़ प्लेटफ़ॉर्म है। हमारा उद्देश्य पाठकों तक उत्तर प्रदेश, देश और दुनिया की सटीक, निष्पक्ष और समय पर ख़बरें पहुँचाना है। यह नीति बताती है कि हम ख़बरें कैसे चुनते, जाँचते, लिखते और सुधारते हैं।

1. सटीकता और तथ्य-जाँच

हर ख़बर प्रकाशित होने से पहले कम से कम एक विश्वसनीय स्रोत से जाँची जाती है — जैसे सरकारी आदेश, आधिकारिक बयान, पुलिस/प्रशासन, अदालती दस्तावेज़ या प्रत्यक्ष रिपोर्टिंग।
संवेदनशील या विवादित दावों के लिए हम दो स्वतंत्र स्रोतों से पुष्टि करते हैं।
सोशल मीडिया पर वायरल सामग्री को तब तक ख़बर के रूप में नहीं छापा जाता जब तक उसकी पुष्टि न हो जाए।
आँकड़े, नाम, पद और तारीख़ें प्रकाशन से पहले दोबारा जाँची जाती हैं।

2. स्रोत और श्रेय

जहाँ संभव हो, हम स्रोत का नाम और लिंक देते हैं।
गुमनाम स्रोत का उपयोग केवल तब होता है जब जानकारी जनहित में हो और स्रोत को जोखिम हो। ऐसी जानकारी संपादक की मंज़ूरी के बाद ही छपती है।
दूसरी समाचार संस्थाओं, एजेंसियों या सोशल मीडिया से ली गई सामग्री का श्रेय स्पष्ट रूप से दिया जाता है।
तस्वीरों और वीडियो का श्रेय उनके स्रोत को दिया जाता है।

3. निष्पक्षता और स्वतंत्रता

हम किसी राजनीतिक दल, संगठन या विज्ञापनदाता के प्रभाव में ख़बरें नहीं लिखते।
किसी व्यक्ति या संस्था पर आरोप वाली ख़बर में हम उनका पक्ष जानने का प्रयास करते हैं और उसे ख़बर में शामिल करते हैं।
समाचार और विचार (Opinion) अलग रखे जाते हैं। विचार लेख “Opinion” श्रेणी में लेखक के नाम के साथ छपते हैं और वे लेखक के निजी विचार होते हैं।
प्रायोजित या विज्ञापन सामग्री को स्पष्ट रूप से “प्रायोजित / Sponsored” लिखा जाता है।

4. संवेदनशील विषय

यौन अपराध के पीड़ितों और नाबालिगों की पहचान (नाम, फ़ोटो, पता) प्रकाशित नहीं की जाती, जैसा कि भारतीय क़ानून में अनिवार्य है।
आत्महत्या से जुड़ी ख़बरों में तरीक़े का विवरण नहीं दिया जाता और हेल्पलाइन की जानकारी दी जाती है।
सांप्रदायिक तनाव से जुड़ी ख़बरों में भड़काऊ भाषा और अपुष्ट दावों से बचा जाता है।
किसी आरोपी को अदालत द्वारा दोषी ठहराए जाने तक “आरोपी” ही लिखा जाता है।

5. स्वास्थ्य और वित्त से जुड़ी सामग्री

स्वास्थ्य संबंधी लेख सामान्य जानकारी के लिए हैं और डॉक्टर की सलाह का विकल्प नहीं हैं। जहाँ संभव हो, हम विशेषज्ञ या आधिकारिक स्रोत (जैसे स्वास्थ्य मंत्रालय, WHO) का हवाला देते हैं।

6. सुधार नीति (Corrections Policy)

गलती का पता चलने पर हम उसे जल्द से जल्द ठीक करते हैं।
तथ्यात्मक गलती सुधारने पर लेख के अंत में सुधार की सूचना दी जाती है, जैसे: “सुधार: इस ख़बर के पिछले संस्करण में … गलत लिखा गया था। इसे ठीक कर दिया गया है।”
वर्तनी या भाषा की छोटी गलतियाँ बिना सूचना के ठीक की जा सकती हैं।
किसी ख़बर में गलती दिखे तो हमें editor@thecoverage.net पर लिखें। हम 48 घंटे के भीतर जवाब देने का प्रयास करते हैं।

7. AI का उपयोग

हम अनुवाद, वर्तनी जाँच या शीर्षक सुझाव जैसे कामों में AI टूल का उपयोग कर सकते हैं, लेकिन हर ख़बर को प्रकाशन से पहले एक संपादक पढ़ता और मंज़ूर करता है। तथ्यों की ज़िम्मेदारी हमारी संपादकीय टीम की है।

Editorial Policy

The Coverage (thecoverage.net) is an independent Hindi-English digital news platform based in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Our aim is to give readers accurate, fair and timely news from Uttar Pradesh, India and the world. This policy explains how we choose, verify, write and correct our stories.

1. Accuracy and fact-checking

Every story is verified against at least one reliable source before publishing, such as a government order, official statement, police or administration, court document or first-hand reporting.
Sensitive or disputed claims are confirmed with two independent sources.
Viral social media content is not reported as news until it has been verified.
Figures, names, designations and dates are double-checked before publishing.

2. Sources and attribution

We name and link our sources wherever possible.
Anonymous sources are used only when the information is in the public interest and the source faces risk, and only with the editor’s approval.
Material from other news outlets, agencies or social media is clearly credited.
Photos and videos are credited to their source.

3. Fairness and independence

Our reporting is not influenced by any political party, organisation or advertiser.
When a story contains allegations against a person or organisation, we seek their response and include it.
News and opinion are kept separate. Opinion pieces appear under “Opinion” with the author’s name and reflect the author’s own views.
Sponsored or advertising content is clearly labelled “Sponsored”.

4. Sensitive subjects

We do not publish the identity (name, photo, address) of survivors of sexual offences or of minors, as required by Indian law.
Suicide-related stories do not describe methods and include helpline information.
Stories involving communal tension avoid inflammatory language and unverified claims.
An accused person is described as “accused” until convicted by a court.

5. Health and finance content

Health articles are for general information and are not a substitute for medical advice. Wherever possible we cite experts or official sources (such as the Ministry of Health or WHO).

6. Corrections policy

When we find an error, we correct it as quickly as possible.
Factual corrections are noted at the end of the article, for example: “Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated … This has been corrected.”
Minor spelling or language fixes may be made without a note.
If you spot an error, write to editor@thecoverage.net. We aim to respond within 48 hours.

7. Use of AI

We may use AI tools for tasks such as translation, spell-checking or headline suggestions, but every story is read and approved by an editor before publishing. Our editorial team is responsible for the facts.
