Jhansi’s Jiya Yadav to Shine for India at Asian Youth Games 2025

LUCKNOW: Jiya Yadav, a young swimming prodigy from Jhansi, has earned a coveted spot to represent India at the 3rd Asian Youth Games, set to take place in Bahrain from October 23 to 27, 2025. The Uttar Pradesh Swimming Association (UPSA) announced her selection with immense pride, celebrating her remarkable journey from a small-town pool to the international stage.
From Humble Roots to National Pride
Jiya’s story is one of sheer determination. With no formal coaching, she honed her swimming skills in a modest 15-meter school pool, learning techniques through YouTube videos. Her talent shone through at the U.P. State Sub-Junior Championships, where she steadily improved, eventually securing gold medals. Her standout performances led to her selection for the U.P. team at the Sub-Junior National Championship, where her mastery of the backstroke earned her top honors.
A Journey of Determination
Recognized for her potential, Jiya joined the prestigious Glenmark Academy of the Swimming Federation of India (SFI) in New Delhi. Under the guidance of National Coach Partha Majumdar, her skills reached new heights, cementing her place among India’s elite young swimmers.
Hailing from humble roots—her father is a farmer—Jiya’s ascent is a powerful testament to perseverance and talent. “Her selection for Team India is the result of years of hard work and an unwavering pursuit of excellence,” said a UPSA spokesperson.
As Jiya prepares to compete in Bahrain, the UPSA and her supporters across Uttar Pradesh rally behind her, hoping she will bring glory to both her state and the nation.
